About

The Soldisch Bastion was built between 1622 and 1627 as a fortification to defend the upper part of the city and is chronologically the last of its bastions. It was made in the shape of a half-heart (pike), of which two levels of defences remain today, with traces of those openings through which guns and cannons were fired. The peculiarities of the historical ensemble highlight the uniqueness of the objective in the context of the urban settlements of Transylvania, being a symbol of Sibiu.
