About
The Wise Woman’s House, brought all the way from Săpânța, Maramureș, transports you into a world where myths and magic were woven into daily life.
Meșteroaia, the village’s wise woman, was a mysterious and respected figure. Locals came to her in search of remedies and guidance—but always with caution. She held knowledge of the hidden powers in plants, charms, and objects, and used this wisdom either to bring good fortune or to offer protection through spells.
Her home brimmed with strange and meaningful items: shells, bones, wooden tools, each holding a magical or symbolic role.
🏡 Built in the 18th century, the house has three rooms and a small porch. In the main room, you’ll find an open-hearth oven, once used for both cooking and resting by elders and infants.
🌿 In the pantry, along with food, she stored herbs and ingredients used for enchantments.

In the Wise Woman’s House, the past comes alive, reminding us that stories of rituals and remedies were once real practices, deeply rooted in the everyday lives of those who stepped through her door.
