🍃Good to know
👋 Hey there, little explorers! Let’s learn how wood is used in the countryside! 🪵🏡
• 🌳 To build houses and make useful things, people choose different types of trees – some are strong, some are light, and some look really pretty! 😍
• 🪓 Wood goes through a few steps: first, the branches are cut off 🌿, then it’s cut with a big machine called a gater ⚙️, and finally, it’s dried 🌬️ so it doesn’t get moldy.
• 💦 The gater is a big saw machine that cuts logs using flowing water!
• 👷♂️ The builder who makes wooden houses is called a carpenter. He uses wood from oak, fir, beech, or poplar trees.
• 🏠 Shingles are thin wooden boards used on rooftops. They’re usually made from fir, spruce, or poplar, and sometimes oak.
• 🪣 The craftsperson who makes barrels, buckets, and other wooden containers is called a cooper.
• 🔥 In a village called Nereju, people had a tradition called Chipărușul – a dance performed by 12 men around a fire to scare away bad spirits 👻.
• 🌽 A grain shed (called "pătul" in Romanian) is a little barn used to store animal food. Sometimes chickens sleep underneath it! 🐓
