Open air museum
The Museum of Traditional Folk Civilisation is the largest open-air museum in Europe and it is home to creations of traditional, pre-industrial Romanian folk civilisation. Located on the road leading to Rășinari, the museum stretches over 96 hectares, and it is crossed by 10 kilometres of alleys winding alongside 400 buildings.
Every year, the open-air museum hosts a multitude of events and cultural performances, celebrating tradition and demonstrating the creativity and efficiency in which natural resources were harnessed and used in rural farming. It becomes a genuine example of good practice for a circular economy, sustainability and a green transition in response to the new challenges facing society today.
