About

The Multicultural Museum Pavilion in the ASTRA Museum was opened on May 27, 2016. Since then, the PaMM has hosted dozens of temporary exhibitions, hundreds of workshops and educational activities, and interactive workshops held by craftsmen and folk creators.

The Multicultural Museum Pavilion in the ASTRA Museum is a sustainable cultural element, made possible thanks to an investment from 2014 to 2016, through the predefined project "Open Heritage. Increasing public accessibility to the multi-ethnic values of ASTRA Museum's heritage", funded by EEA (European Economic Area - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) Grants 2009-2014, under the programme "Preservation and Revitalisation of Cultural and Natural Heritage". PaMM made a major contribution to the ASTRA Museum winning the European Museum Academy/Luigi Micheletti Award 2019 Grand Prize. We recall here some highlights from the jury's motivation on the decision: ,,(...) The Open Heritage project is an excellent example of the importance of collaboration between cultural institutions from different countries and can be a pole in the development of all partners and the museum world as such. Such best practices can only be achieved with proper funding, of course.(...)ASTRA is an innovative, creative project, organising its huge and rich collection in a way that highlights today facts such as migration, sustainability and biodiversity".
