About
Originally from Corund, the most representative centre of Szekler pottery, this potter's workshop is a living chronicle of old Szekler architecture. It brings together monuments of local architecture from the first half of the 19th century (the house was built in 1832), while the gate and gatehouse were masterfully carved in 1880.
The heart of the household, the house, reveals itself with modesty and authenticity with its four rooms: a vestibule, a potter's workshop, the best room facing the street and a pantry. In the courtyard, the shed houses the brick-built potter's kiln with hearth and flues.
About the history of local craftsmanship speak both the old tradition of pottery, left unglazed, and the more recent glazed pottery, decorated with horn and brush. Many of the blue decorative motifs were borrowed from Saxon pottery.
